High-resolution video transmission over 400 meters / compact design for discreet installation

Hallbergmoos, March 11, 2009 - The new DVI-D Single Link Fiber Optic Extender from Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, is available as of now. The highly compact device provides a high-resolution extension over 400 meters over a single optical fiber strand - without compression and delay. It is thus ideally suited for a wide range of applications, from digital signage to industrial automation and control systems.

Despite its compact design, the ACS2004 is a full-fledged DVI-D extender. It transmits the full spectrum of single-link signals over distances of up to 400 meters over a single 50/125µm multimode fiber strand using modern CWDM technology. Using a 62.5 µm fiber, a distance of 180 meters can still be achieved.
The transmission is fully transparent and without compression or delay, thus retaining the image quality at resolutions from 640 x 480 to 1920 x 1200 over the entire distance. The device transmits full HDTV 1080p as well. Apart from providing EDID information important for PC operation, the ACS2004A also supports HDCP. Content protected with this form of copy protection, e.g., from Blu-ray discs, can thus be transmitted without problems.

Moreover, the energy-efficient design allows for power to be supplied to the transmitter via the DVI interface alone in most cases.
