Black Box expands KVM portfolio

Distances of up to 400 meters without loss of quality

Hallbergmoos, January 28, 2009 - Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, expands its successful ACS product family with the ServSwitch DVI-D Plus USB 2.0 Extender and the ServSwitch Dual-Link DVI-D Plus USB Extension. Both KVM extenders support USB 2.0 480 Mbps and transmit DVI-D video data without compression and delay in real time over 400 meters.
And with the new Micro Extender DVI-D, a high-resolution, compact and inexpensive CATx extension up to 50 meters is available.

Depending on the version, either a single multimode fiber (for the ServSwitch DVI-D Plus USB 2.0 Extender) or two multimode fibers with USB-HID (for the ServSwitch Dual-Link DVI-D Plus USB Extension) is used for the transmission.
USB 2.0 support likewise takes place either over a second or a third fiber. Thus mass storage devices, such as memory sticks, CD-ROM drives or even DVD writers, can now be connected and operated up to 400 meters away from the workstation. In addition, an integrated 4-port hub on the far side supports up to four USB peripheral devices.

"With the expansion of our portfolio we are able to offer solutions to our clients which are tailored exactly to their requirements", Axel Bürger, Managing Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. The ServSwitch-Extender uses CWDM technology to convert the DVI 1.0-compliant video signal of the workstation into optical signals and thus reduces the need for optical fibers.
"Besides offering innovative products to our clients, we also aim to convince them with our service quality: at our free Tech Support, qualified experts are readily available to answer all your enquiries."
