The DFC Mgmt 10-100 Converter provide intelligent, securely managed service demarcation at the customer premises with Layer 2 Control Protocol (L2CP), Quality of Service and enhanced Bandwidth rate limitation capabilities. They allow the administrator a comprehensive performance monitoring with fault detection and provisioning.
DFC Mgmt 10-100 Converters feature complete built-in SNMP management that can be accessed through any standard SNMP software. You can manage the converters in-band or out-of-band with SNMP, Telnet, PING, and FTP. You can even use your Web browser to access management through IP.
The converters include support for IEEE 802.3ah OAM loopback, enabling you to locate faults and test links in carrier-class networks.
Choose the Management Software (LMC3003A) for easy-to-use GUI-based software customized for use with DFCs Dynamic Fiber Conversion System. The management software works as a standalone application in Windows®, or you can integrate it with a management program such as HP® OpenView®. It provides real-time network status, monitoring power, voltage, current and chassis temperature. You can also actively configure managed chassis, modules and ports.
Tag VLAN, Port VLAN and QoS
VLAN and Quality of Service priority standards provide traffic control on your network, enabling you to prioritize traffic, ration bandwidth or even shut down remote connections. Use Port based VLAN to specify and restrict the traffic flow between the fibre, UTP, backplane and management ports.
The 802.1p prioritization standard enables delivery of Quality of Service (QoS) to high-priority, real-time applications such as voice and video over Ethernet.
Port Bandwidth Control and Port Access Control
The enhanced Bandwidth Control feature supports levels of bandwidth between the fibre and UTP ports in 64Kbps increments from 64K to Full Line Speed. Port Access Control provides enterprise administrators the capability to improve network security by controlling port access when the port is not in use.
Port Statistics and Optical Performance Statistics
Port statistics are available for 38 different variables for the UTP and fibre ports. With Port and optical performance statistics you can monitor the bandwidth utilization, network performance and the link signal quality for each individual port.
The DFC Mgmt 10-100 Converter allows multiple, user-selectable link fault detection modes, including Link Propagation, Remote Fault Detection and Asymmetrical Fault Detection for rapid fault detection and isolation by monitoring the state of the cabling hardware while operating independently of the network management.
Fiber Port Options
The DFC Mgmt 10-100 Converters are available with dual fibre multimode, dual fibre single-mode (SC) and single fibre single-mode single-fiber (WDM) options. They support distances up to 5km over MM fiber, 30km over SM fiber and 20km or 40km over WDM.

Wall mount DFC Mgmt 10-100 Converters are part of the Dynamic Fiber Conversion System. The DFCs is a managed chassis-based media-conversion system for enterprise networks. Chassis are available for Desktop, Wall mount or Rack mount use.
